Dowser is a one-person project. No team, no investors, no roadmap meetings. Just me building something I wanted to exist and putting it out in the open.
Why I built it
I kept trying to get AI assistants to actually do things in my browser, and they were all slow in the same way. Every single click meant waiting a second or two while a model looked at a screenshot of my screen and thought about where to press. It cost tokens every time, it sent a picture of whatever I was looking at off to some server, and often enough it still guessed wrong.
It bugged me, because the finding part doesn't need a model at all. The browser already knows where every button and field is. So I built the piece that just finds the thing you mean and clicks it, in a few milliseconds, right there on your own machine. That's Dowser.
How it works, in one paragraph
You install a small extension and connect it to your AI assistant. When you ask it to do something on a page, like “cancel my subscription” or “fill in my address,” Dowser works out exactly which element you mean and clicks or types it, instantly, in the browser you already use. Nothing about the page leaves your computer, and you watch every move it makes through a glow and a cursor.
Why it's one purchase, not a subscription
I didn't want to build another thing that charges you every month. Dowser is a single purchase: buy it once, it's yours, and every update in this version line is included. There's a full 5-day free trial first, so you can be completely sure before you pay a cent.
A note on trust
Dowser can act inside your browser on your behalf, so I built it to be careful about that. It never reads your passwords or card numbers, it only ever answers to your own assistant on your own machine, and it steps aside the instant you move your mouse. Your browser stays yours. That part isn't marketing. It's the whole reason the finding happens on-device instead of in the cloud.
